Lucky for us, the county is filled with a wealth of not just good, but great restaurants. What's also exciting: there's always something new just around the corner (or in a nearby town). To make your decision easier, we've rounded up a list of recently opened spots north of I-287.

- Eagle Saloon, Peekskill: Live music and the best of "Americana" converge at this rustic pub, open since early December. The Western/Southern-style style eatery with "the longest bar in Westchester" -- its 42-feet -- features signed guitars by Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen, Jon Stewart and more as well as a menu loaded with Asian poke bowls, salads, quesadillas, ribs and cowboy-spiced chicken eggrolls. - Eda's Garden, Yorktown Heights: Expect a menu filled with organic, gluten-free, non-GMO and locally sourced food at this new cafe, open since Nov. 4. Previous Daily Voice story here.
- Finn & Brew, Peekskill: Despite the "brew" in its name, this is not your average brewpub. The food -- produced by two Culinary Institute of America grads -- is a gourmet combination of New American cuisine and comfort food created with the seasons in mind. Grab a spot along the U-shaped bar or by the windows for a scenic waterfront view while you ponder the menu; choices include lamb shank, wild striped bass, fisherman's stew, steamed mussels and a killer dark chocolate espresso bar (among other options). - Hudson Valley Steakhouse, Yorktown Heights: What had previously been Spark Valley Steakhouse has been rebranded as Hudson Valley Steakhouse, reflecting its mission to local purveyors. Daily Voice story here.
- River Outpost Brewing, Peekskill: It's brewski time at River Outpost where Head Brewer Justin Sturge is crafting at least six new beers on site starting the first week in January. (The grand opening is set for later in the month.) The brewery may be new but the folks behind it are "old" when it comes to hospitality. River Outpost is a side project of Scott Vaccaro, owner and Brewmaster at Captain Lawrence Brewing Co. in Elmsford, Louie Lanza (Hudson Hospitality Group) and John Sharp (Gleason’s & Birdsall House). The brewery is open Thursday through Sunday and also features a bar menu.
- Stone Fire Restaurant, Mount Kisco: Wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas are a speciality at Stone Fire-- open since early December. Expect "Italian eats and urban vibes." Previous Daily Voice story here.
- The Creek, Croton Falls: Short rib pot pie, duck tacos, burgers and more are on the menu at this cross between a pub and an upscale restaurant. What was formerly Croton Creek Steakhouse has a new owner, a new menu and a new vibe, yet still retains some of its predecessors' favorites like skirt steaks and rib-eyes.
- Playa Bowls, Pleasantville: It's not technically a restaurant but it is a new acai bowl spot where healthy eats (think smoothies and protein shakes) are front and center. The eatery, which opened in December 2017, is at 465 Bedford Rd.
Opening in 2018
- Hugo, Peekskill: Expect pasta, pizza and burgers when Arne Paglia, owner of Division Street Grill renovates the old Hugo's space, at 1007 Brown Street, into a pub.
- Mission Taqueria, Pleasantville: No word on when this will open but suffice it to say the eatery -- from the folks behind 105Ten Bar & Grill in Briarcliff Manor -- will feature Mexican fusion fare. It is located at 472 Bedford Rd.
- Sing Sing Kill Brewery, Ossining: Owned by two Ossining beer enthusiasts, this New York State Farm Brewery will source ingredients locally and offer eight beers at a time. It will also feature Hudson Valley bar food and a family-friendly atmosphere. Set to open in early January 2018; check their Facebook page for updates.
